When the owners of this townhouse contacted Unreal Designs, they knew their home wasn’t working for them - but they weren’t sure what the right solution might be. Although only eight years old, the ground floor layout felt awkward and inefficient. The kitchen occupied a large portion of the space yet left much of the floor area underused, the dining area struggled to accommodate large gatherings, and a separate front room had gradually become more of a storage space than a place to spend time.
Complicating matters further, the house tapers towards the rear, giving the rooms an unusual geometry. The existing tiled flooring emphasised these angles, making the layout feel even more awkward. Before committing significant money to a renovation, the clients wanted to understand whether the changes they were imagining would truly work in their home - or whether moving house might ultimately be the better option.
Through immersive VR design, we helped them explore possibilities, test ideas and experience potential layouts first-hand, giving them the confidence to move forward with renovating rather than relocating. The images below will take you through the design journey and how VR has enabled the houseowners to confidently choose a way forward.
